FAQ

What is "personal proofing"?

Personal proofing takes a process that has typically had many hands (and costs and time) involved, and reduces the task of creating a contract-quality proof to a consistent, quick, and manageable task that can be performed locally.

Who can benefit from using the Veroproof personal proofing system?

Anyone who has the responsibility for producing and approving contract-quality proofs prior to print production runs. Designers, print shops, art departments, and layout specialists can all benefit from the process improvements that Veroproof enables.

Does Veroproof support remote proofing with my print shop?

Absolutely - a Veroproof proof can be printed on any printer connected to a Veroproof system. In other words, as long as your print shop (or even another branch of your company anywhere in the world) is also using Veroproof, proof files can be output virtually anywhere.

What are the primary advantages of using the Veroproof system?

Quick turnaround time, greater project control, low initial investment, and minimal ongoing support costs all contribute to the potential for significant cost reduction in the proofing process. Additionally, Veroproof enables designers to push the creative envelope by providing immediate, local printing of proofs for in-house approval.

But my print shop doesn't charge me for proofs anyway, so why should I invest in a personal proofing system?

In most cases, print shops embed the cost of proofing into the total cost of a job. So, yes, you are probably being charged for proofs, even if the cost isn't itemized on the final bill for the job.

Speaking of costs, what's the price of the Veroproof system?

The Veroproof RIP software is free. The initial cost in setting up the Veroproof processor is installing and networking a dedicated, Windows-based PC, and the cost of the proof printer. Ongoing costs: Veroproof color-barred proofing sheets / paper.

What types of printers are currently supported by the Veroproof RIP software?

GRACoL-certified color profiles have been created to support Epson R2880, HP B9180, and HP B8850 inkjet printers. Veroproof users can create additional profiles for other inkjet printers, or submit to ColorQuick for creation of the profiles.

What operating systems can be used to generate Veroproof contract-quality proofs?

The Veroproof system is truly cross platform, in that the design file (.pdf format) can be created and uploaded from any computer workstation with a web browser (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). The Veroproof RIP software / Veroproof processor, however, must be hosted on a dedicated Windows-based computer. In very basic terms, the Veroproof processor only acts as a RIP processing platform and print server - so, after initial setup of the computer, no other user action (other than paper selection) is normally needed. Set it up, and forget about it!
